Well, the flight to Amsterdam was certainly an adventure! Got boarded and left from Vancouver right on time! The sun set, the stars came out, I got about 45 minutes worth of sleep in the 8 hour flight and the sun rose. Then, the storm arrived just before our arrival into Amsterdam. The plane rocked and rolled a bit, the seat belt light came on and then, all in an instant, a super bright flash of light, a very very loud bang and the plane rolled from side to side! Yup – we got hit by lightning!!
I had plans for sightseeing with lots of pictures, the museum and Anne Frank’s House….well, it rained, it snowed, it hailed and the sun came out for about 10 minutes before it set at 5:00 pm….so I still did sightseeing, but the camera stayed mostly tucked safely away from the elements. Anne Frank House Museum was a somber testament of her experience of being hidden away during the war. Never did make the museum as it closed at 5:00 pm, so we found a lovely little restaurant, enjoyed dinner and yup, me and my room mate went to bed at 8:00 pm – jet lag had definitely set in!
Up bright and early the next morning for our 10:00 flight to Beautiful Budapest!
